First look at adult DigiDestined in the new Digimon movie

After months of anticipation, we finally have a first look at the upcoming Digimon movie with a more mature DigiDestined group.
Digimon came back in full force with Digimon Adventure Tri, a six-part film series essentially helping us to return to the world of Digimon. In those films, we saw the group in their late teen years, but it only left fans begging for more of the DigiDestined after successfully crafting a comeback for the widely adored franchise.
Shortly after, those involved in the development of the Digi-return announced that we would once again see them make an appearance to combat foes in the Digital World. The news didn’t go into detail necessarily, but there was a glimpse at the two primary protagonists Matt and Tai – who will now be at the age of 22. Now, months since the announcement was made, a magazine in Japan included a little teaser of what’s to come which showcased the entire group of DigiDestined as 20 somethings and the nostalgia is all too real.

In the most recent issue of V Jump magazine, the art displays the stylish group in a new light, along with a little information (no translation has been made as of yet due to the resolution) so we can expect to be learning more about the plot and characters in the coming weeks. Knowing that Digimon is still thriving after two decades of stories is just one of several examples of how anime revivals are in their prime – with countless stories to tell regarding favorites like Digimon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Fruits Basket, and Dragon Ball, we have a feeling we will continue to see this resurgence of anime perfection.
If this isn’t enough for you, after the major anticipation surrounding the upcoming Jump Festa in Japan this weekend, it only seems like there are so many more anime and manga tidbits heading our way. We’ll take whatever we can get!
