There’s no way the Home Alone franchise isn’t part of your Christmas list, the holiday comedy ranks at #3 in our 25 best Christmas movies!

Even if you don’t sit down to watch the Home Alone franchise every Christmas, it’s a safe bet you at least watch the original. Macaulay Culkin’s Home Alone has everything wrapped up in one: Laughs, pranks, bad guys, enough Christmas spirit to go around, family, and all told my an adorable kid at the center of it all. The movie also stars Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, and Catherine O’Hara.

We all know the story, Culkin’s character, Kevin McCallister, an 8-year-old kid, is left home alone by mistake. The journey to fly back home to Kevin is a tough one, but the real story is what’s going on around Kevin’s home.

Kevin’s gorgeous mansion is being eyed by two baddies desperate to break in and steal everything the can. Knowing the family is out of town, they commence their big plan. Too bad they didn’t plan things out as well as Kevin, who’s ready to defend his home by all means necessary.

Home Alone‘s sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, if a lot of fun as well, but not as great as the original. But Home Alone 3 and the TV-movie Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House do not star the original cast and follow entirely different stories. To be honest, it’s best if you ignore these two! They are not nearly as fun as the original two, and kill the magic completely!

Just how popular is Home Alone? The movie is so loved, it’s still very relevant. In fact, actor Macaulay Culkin recently did a commercial with Google that brought back the film. Check out the clip, below:
