With Dean possessed by Michael again, Sam will stop at nothing again to get his brother back. Could that mean working with Lucifer at some point in Supernatural Season 14?

The co-dependency issues between the Winchester brothers has been a running thing in Supernatural over the years. More so Dean than Sam, this year we’ve seen Sam make it clear that he will stop at nothing to get his brother back. He even said he’d be willing to work with anyone.

At first, it looked like he was getting his brother back without sacrifice. Oh, how naive could he be? Of course Michael was never going to give up his one true vessel! So, it wasn’t that much of a surprise when Michael repossessed Dean in the fall finale.

Now Sam is back at looking for ways to get his brother back. Who is he willing to work with? Could Lucifer be someone?

But Lucifer’s dead!

I know what you’re thinking right now. Lucifer is dead. He was killed by Dean at the end of the last season.

More from Supernatural

But dead doesn’t stay dead on Supernatural. Plus, I’m still not fully convinced that something of Lucifer hasn’t been left behind in Nick. There are times that Nick is just too much like Lucifer to convince me that the archangel is fully gone. I get the feeling that there’s some sort of connection, even if it’s to the sleeping archangel in the Empty.

That opens the possibility for Sam to work with Lucifer. After all, Michael vs. Lucifer was always meant to be the big showdown. We sort of got this in Season 13, but Dean was still in control of his body to take on Lucifer with Michael offering a little extra power. What if Sam allowed Lucifer complete control to fight against Michael?

Would Michael vs. Michael be better?

Lucifer vs. Michael has happened. In the Apocalypse World, we learned that Michael won and that didn’t work out so well for the Earth. Then we watched Dean take down Lucifer when he wasn’t even controlled by Michael but just had Michael as backup.

Maybe, just maybe, we could see Michael against Michael instead. Is it time for Sam to take another trip to the cage to get Michael (and Adam!) out of there? Would he be willing to work with that archangel to free his brother?

It would be interesting to see if that Michael would even want to help. Could you imagine that Michael in Adam’s body with Apocalypse Michael controlling Dean? That would be a major cause of a disaster.

Sam may say he’s willing to work with anyone to get Dean back, but he’s got to believe that they will help him get Dean back. Lucifer and Michael don’t seem like viable options. If it was going to be an archangel, could we have Gabriel back instead?
