The Good Place finally returned this week, and we were in the actual Good Place. Michael tried to convince the committee to do something about the points system, and Chidi and Eleanor had their first date.

Ah, it’s good to be back. We started off this week’s new episode of The Good Place where we left off before our break, with the gang arriving in the actual Good Place. They can tell it’s the actual Good Place because the air smells like whatever makes them happiest. For Eleanor it’s a water park. For Tahani it’s closing the curtains between first class and coach.

In order to make sure no one could follow them, Janet blows up the letter carrier they arrived in, alerting their presence to Gwendolyn. Who just buys all their lies completely, because she’s never had a reason to be suspicious of anyone.

Gwendolyn tells them that unfortunately humans can’t enter the actual Good Place proper through any of the doors in the building they are in, but they can feel free to hang out. Eleanor is immediately frustrated that all that separates her from paradise is a thin door. They’re “four Oreos from Heaven.”

Everyone else is helping Gwendolyn clean up the mess they created, and Michael gains intel on how to call the committee. So he does.

Tahani and Jason talk about what they saw in Janet’s void, and Tahani tells Jason he needs to talk to Janet about what he saw. So he does, which causes Janet to have a lot of feelings she doesn’t want to deal with.

Eleanor is getting frustrated that she can’t break through the door, so Chidi proposes that they take this opportunity to have their first date. So they pop some champagne and have a very nice romantic meal “four Oreos from paradise.”

Michael presents the problem with the points to the committee, and they tell him they’ll need to deliberate.

Chidi surprises Eleanor dressed as a mailman, and she breaks down crying. She’s the happiest she’s ever been, and she’s worried that something is going to mess up their relationship. Chidi reassures her that everything will be fine, and they need to just focus on the now, and not worry about what could happen. This cheers Eleanor up, and they go have sex in a closet.

Tahani keeps trying to make things better with Janet and Jason, but keeps just making things worse. When she goes to talk to Michael about the unintended consequences of her actions, Michael has an epiphany. He realizes that the Bad Place isn’t tampering with the points. It’s just becoming increasingly hard to make good choices in the world today.

Just as Gwendolyn begins to become suspicious of everyone, and ready to turn them into the judge, Michael comes in and announces that he’s already contacted her. The doorman comes in and tells everyone that the judge will meet them at IHOP. No not the one we’re thinking of, the Interdimensional Hole of Pancakes, the most dangerous place in the universe.
