The Deadly Class series premiere has been available online for the last month, but it’s now officially debuted on SYFY. Here’s a look back at the episode, picking out the five best moments.

Deadly Class has officially premiered on SYFY. While it was released online in December, many of you will have only just watched it now. After all, it was only available in the United States and networks around the world have got the rights to air the graphic novel adaptation.

When it comes to pilots, many are made specifically for the network now. They tend to lose something in translation for the potential fans of the series. That was definitely not the case with Deadly Class. This is a series premiere that connects with fans of the graphic novels and new fans alike.

More from Syfy

With the 80s fashion and music, the bright and bold coloring in production, this is a series that is bound to do well. And now that the premiere has aired, I feel better writing a spoilery piece about it — my previous review was spoiler-free and I wanted to go into so much more detail than I could!.

Rather than a standard review, this type of show deserves bigger coverage. So for this Deadly Class recap, I’m focusing on the best five moments in the series premiere.

1. That epic opening

We open with Marcus already at Kings Dominion. I guess, it’s no secret that he goes there, so there’s no need to build up the pilot of whether he goes or chooses to keep his current wasted life. The pilot was, instead, a look at why he chooses Kings Dominion despite initially thinking no.

So, opening with him already in the school worked. As Brandy Lynn is passing him a note, Master Lin catches them. Most teachers would possibly embarrass the students by getting them to read out their notes or do what teachers in my school did, which was to take the notes and read them afterward.

Not Master Lin! He places his staff on Marcus’ desk and then BAM! slams it into Brandy Lynn’s nose. If you though the teachers would be supportive of the kids in this school, you’re “deadly” wrong and this was the perfect way to show that.
