5 of the weirdest looking movies on Netflix
In the shadows of the latest hit series and original films, there are some unique titles lurking in the depths of the Netflix library.
Netflix acquires films from all over the world. So many in fact, that most go unnoticed. While a large sum are forgettable, the streaming platform’s library offers some odd looking contributions if you’re looking for something unique to dive into.
Of course, we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, so perhaps our readers will find a new favorite out of the five below.
Bitch (2017)
This dark comedy film produced by Elijah Wood follows a suburban family, whose matriarch suffers a breakdown. After a failed attempt at suicide, she assumes the persona of a vicious dog, leaving her philandering husband scrambling to keep the family together.
Colossal (2016)

The sci-fi black comedy film starring Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis fell under the radar a few years ago. The film follows Hathaway’s Gloria, who is an unemployed writer forced to move back to her hometown. Concurrently, a colossal monster is wreaking havoc in Seoul.
Gloria soon discovers a deep connection between the monster and herself. Saying anything more would be giving too much away. It’s best to go in blind. (Did I put this on the list solely because it’s actually a great film that everyone should see? Maybe so.)
Daemonium (2015)
The action and cinematography from this dystopic Argentinian sci-fi flick look like something out of the 90s. It takes place in an alternate universe where magic, technology, humans, and demons attempt to co-exist, but ultimately fail when a wizard starts a war with hell. There isn’t much information about the film online, but it sure looks nuts.
Makkhi (2012)
In this Indian fantasy film, told as a bedtime story, a man is kidnapped and murdered by a rich industrialist over their love for the same woman. The deceased is reincarnated as a fly to avenge his death. When the killer figures out the fly’s identity, a chain of events ensue with both he and the fly seeking revenge against the other.
Monster Hunt (2015)
The fifth film on the list comes from China and files under many genres: fantasy, action, comedy, and adventure. This spectacle, originally released in 3D, broke box office records in China. The film is set in ancient China, where humans and monsters lived harmoniously until humans sought to drive the monsters out and take over their land. But when a civil war breaks out in the monster realm, and the king is overthrown, humans and monsters must work together to protect the monster queen’s baby.
