Supernatural Season 5, Episode 3 saw Dean and Castiel on their first case together. That brought some excellent lines. Just what were the top five?

While Sam had some important character development when it comes to his dreams of Lucifer (and Lucifer manipulating those dreams to get Sam to say yes), the best parts of Supernatural Season 5, Episode 3 were Dean and Castiel’s first hunt together. They are the most memorable parts of the episode.

It’s not surprising that all five lines are from somewhere in Dean and Castiel’s storyline. In fact, the majority of them are Dean, as we get some of that spark he had in the very early seasons of the series. Here are my five favorite lines from “Free to Be You and Me.”

You were wasted by a Teenage Mutant Ninja Angel?

Since this line, all I could think of was Raphael as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Angel. As a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles growing up, I guess that’s not overly surprising.

It started off the setting of the episode. We knew from this moment that we’d get plenty of one-liners from Dean. Part of the old Dean was back and ready to be fully let out.

Last time you zapped me someplace I didn’t poop for a week. We’re driving.

That feeling continued with this line. Just as Castiel was about to zap them to Raphael’s last known location, Dean stopped him. It has become a running joke now about transportation like this, although not used now because angels’ wings have been clipped.

However, this line stood out for me because I was a fan of Charmed, too. The whitelighters would orb in and out and with similar effects for the humans.

Because that’s how you become President.

This line definitely means a lot more now than it did, but at the time it was a chuckle. It’s one of those that remains a popular phrase for all Supernatural fans, so naturally it has to make the top five lines from Season 5, Episode 3.

The delivery was also on point. You could see that Dean believes this. He didn’t even need to think about why he would need to lie.

No, not at all. Michael is much more powerful. It’ll be far worse for you.

Castiel delivers the next best line and it’s something to think about now. As the two look at Raphael’s former vessel, Dean starts to contemplate what will happen to him if he says yes to Lucifer.

Early Supernatural, saw Castiel extremely blunt in his conversations. He didn’t understand human interaction and that often made some of his lines the best. He didn’t skirt around Michael’s power and what would happen to Dean’s body afterward. Now we know why Dean has to remain the cage for Michael.

And whatever we want, we get.

The angels have always seemed like tantrum-throwing toddlers and that was definitely the case at this point. Just after admitting his belief that God was dead, Raphael made it clear why he wanted the apocalypse to happen. Angels are tired and they want paradise.

So, that means allowing the apocalypse to happen and wipe out the humans. All because God isn’t around to stop them. Dad stepped out and now his children are running amok. So why is this one of the best lines? Because it shows just how different Castiel is to so many other angels around.
