Who is the new warrior joining the Shadowhunters cast, why does he want to fight Jace, and how might he connect to Valentine? Here’s everything we know so far.

Ever since the first full Shadowhunters Season 3B trailer dropped, fans have been diligently activating their best detective modes to find as many clues as they can about what to expect over the next 12 episodes. We saw several new characters in the trailer that had been previously announced, but there was one new Shadowhunters cast face we didn’t recognize.

We assumed he was a Seelie because of his leather armor and weaponry, and in the trailer he can be found instigating a battle with Jace Herondale. As far as we can tell, this character was not adapted from The Mortal Instruments book series.

On Sunday, a Shadowhunters update account tossed out the question to the #ShadowFam, asking if anyone had any leads on who the mysterious adversary could be, and the tweet was found by one of Shadowhunters‘ showrunners, Todd Slavkin, who shared some details for fans. Turns out that this character will have a large role in Shadowhunters season 3B as a prisoner of the Gard who was able to escape when Valentine broke out in season 3 episode 9.

We don’t know if this warrior had been loyal to Valentine, but many of the prisoners in the Gard at the time had in fact been members of The Circle. And while The Circle is not a friend to Downworlders — if this warrior is a Seelie — we know that Valentine had allied with the Seelie Queen during Season 2. We also know that not everyone in the Gard was a Shadowhunter because Iris Rouse, a warlock, was taken prisoner there as well.

Check out the tweet about the new Shadowhunters cast member:

We are not completely sure who this new Shadowhunters cast member is or what his motivations could be, but after doing some light Internet investigating, we found that there is a character identified as “Seelie Warrior” who will appear in at least two episodes during Shadowhunters season 3B. The character is credited as Jason Gosbee, who has previously been on Shadowhunters as a stunt person during Season 2.

We’re very curious about why he was sentenced to death at the Gard, and why he’s tangled with Jace’s fight to stop Jonathan and get to Clary — and if Jace is pleased that he drew a weapon first, does that mean Jace is able to fight him as per the Accords? We’ve got to brush up on our Shadow World law…

Do you think this character from the trailer could be the Seelie Warrior in question, or is our theory off track? Let us know in the comments below!
