Everything is awesome at the box office with The Lego Movie 2
By Sandy C.
Which movie did you catch in theaters this weekend? The box office numbers are in thanks to Box Office Mojo, here are the top ten movies of the weekend…
It was always a safe bet The Lego Movie 2 would be the top movie of the weekend, but its bragging rights aren’t exactly awesome. The Lego sequel gathered $34.4 million domestically and $18.1 million internationally, for a grand total of $52.5 million. This number is great, but some sources believe the number would be even more awesome had two spinoffs not cut in between the movies.
The first Lego Movie collected $69 million in its opening weekend, a significant difference. Still, there’s a lot of love for these movies, which provide humor for both children and parents. If there are plans for a third movie, let’s hope it comes out sooner than later, though!

What Men Want follows Lego in second place with $19 million. The remake of Mel Gibson’s 2000 What Women Want was put together for $20 million, so it does still have just a bit to go before it collects any profit.
Taylor Chilling’s The Prodigy failed to capture much attention, coming in at number six with a low $6 million. It could be audiences are not into horror mood with Valentine’s Day around the corner.
