The Save Shadowhunters campaign has returned to Hollywood, California with two digital billboards sponsored by fans on both ends of the Oscars red carpet.

In summer 2018, Shadowhunters fans brought the #SaveShadowhunters campaign to Hollywood, California when an airplane (aka the Parabaplane) flew a banner in circles around Netflix’s headquarters on Sunset Blvd. Now, fans have rallied their efforts and creativity once more to bring the Save Shadowhunters campaign back to Los Angeles.

This time, however, the fan-sponsored advertisement for the return of the series is in the form of two digital billboards — and they’re on either end of what’s soon to be the Oscars red carpet. On the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Ave., a digital banner appears every few minutes that showcases the name of the series and advertises that new episodes of Shadowhunters return on Feb. 25. Cast members Kat McNamara and Luke Baines were two of the first people to hunt down the billboard, posting their sighting on social media to thank fans (and celebrate right alongside them).

On Feb. 12, a second billboard appeared just one block west, at the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and N. Orange Dr., featuring a graphic with the silhouette of a “Clary Fray-like” hero, standing between what appears to be New York City and Edom. This second billboard also highlights a recent series and fan achievement: being awarded The Show of 2018 at the People’s Choice Awards.

The street in-between the two billboards is currently closed to traffic because of red carpet construction for the Oscars, which takes place on Sunday, Feb. 24 — the night before the Shadowhunters Season 3B premiere on Freeform. We don’t know if fans had specifically planned on capturing attention from this major entertainment event, but it’s incredibly impressive that the billboards just happen to be bookends on either side of the star-studded show.

Both billboards also include the #SaveShadowhunters hashtag, and each clearly states that the advertisements were paid for by fans — though we’re under the impression that this aspect was more of a required legal issue than it was a salty statement for anyone who views the graphics.
