The Flash recap: Nora just doesn’t know when to stop!
By Paul Zuniga
The latest episode of The Flash dealt with time travel once again, all thanks to Nora. Find out exactly what happened in our recap of Cause And XS below.
With Team Flash inching towards the finish with the Cicada (Chris Klein) problem, every episode of The Flash is that much more important. In Season 5, Episode 14, the team finally synthesizes a serum to nullify Cicada’s meta-gene. The bad news is the serum takes a month to work.
Team Flash contemplates waiting for the serum to go into effect but Cicada won’t wait that long to kill the other metahumans. Sherloque (Tom Cavanagh) figures out a solution but it’ll require Barry (Grant Gustin) spending an hour inside of the Speed-Force with the serum. The departure doesn’t seem like a big deal but things begin to spiral as soon as Barry leaves.
Once Barry is in the Speed-Force, Team Flash continues with their daily activities. Iris (Candace Patton) takes off to finish an important article, Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) is helping Cisco (Carlos Valdes) with relationship problems, and Caitlyn (Danielle Panabaker) wraps up work on the injector. But while all of this happening, Cicada begins stalking members of Team Flash.

Cicada’s manages to capture Iris and that sets in motion a night which keeps repeating itself. There isn’t another metahuman in the picture, it’s Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) who keeps rewinding the clock because of how the hour keeps turning out—and it’s just one hour.
Basically, Cicada capturing Iris leads to him killing Killer Frost. Nora doesn’t want to accept the loss so she runs back in time to prevent the grisly fate from becoming reality. When she does, Nora saves Killer Frost but winds up getting someone else killed. It’s essentially the television equivalent of Happy Death Day, except the main character has to watch her friends die instead of herself.
Nora finally decides to trap her team inside of Star Labs so they can wait out Barry’s absence in the Speed-Force. With them out of harm’s way, Nora assumes she has the situation locked down. But then, Cicada captures Cecille (Danielle Nicolet) and she becomes the next victim. At this point, it’s clear that Nora can’t change fate.

The good news is that the Allens have never stopped fighting the good fight, regardless of whether or not fate had their best interests in mind. Then again, the Speed-Force has lent a hand in a few of Barry Allen’s previous battles.
Eventually, Nora comes to the realization that the only way she’ll be able to avert a tragedy is by informing Team Flash of their situation. They then work on a solution out of this particular conundrum.
Sherloque is actually the one who comes to the rescue yet again. He uses his deductive skills to propose they slow down time and use that against Cicada. The mechanics of their plan is a bit complicated but it summed up to Cicada throwing his dagger at himself.
Once he does and the dark-matter shard strikes him, he’s injured and Team Flash is safe—for the time being. They rejoice in the victory but there’s one last thing to take care of—Cisco’s date.
In the same hour that Nora relived, Cisco ruined his chances with a new love interest, 52 times. Cisco failed miserably trying to impress her multiple times when he should’ve just been himself. Lucky for Cisco, the 53re time was the charm and his date finally worked out.
The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW. The CW series returns on Mar. 5, 2019.
