Jussie Smollett suspended from Empire: Why he’s not fired
By Mary Jane
While Jussie Smollett’s legal drama continues to play out in the media, Empire has decided to suspend him from the show and remove him from the final two episodes.
Jussie Smollett and his work on the hit-show Empire is slowly coming to an end. This morning, Empire‘s EPs Lee Daniels, Danny Strong, Brett Mahoney, Brian Grazer, Sanaa Hamri, Francie Calfo, and Dennis Hammer all revealed in a statement that Smollett had been suspended.
The decision to suspend Jussie Smollett rather than fire him comes down to the fact that the truth hasn’t been revealed yet.
In the statement, they all revealed that Jussie was important to the Empire family and before making any rash decisions about Jamal Lyon’s fate, they want to see the legal system take over.

They also revealed the past few weeks had been emotional for everyone involved in the case as well as everyone on the show as the actor has been part of the family for years. The statement concludes with them only suspending him, as they trust that the legal system will find the truth. Once that comes out, they can move ahead based on the outcome.
For now, Jussie Smollett is being written out of the final two episodes of the season, but the statement did not provide details on how the show will go on without him in the episodes.
It’s possible that the EPs are hoping everything will be resolved before the next season of Empire starts filming, so they know whether to move ahead with or without Smollett.
For those who don’t know what has been going on, Jussie Smollett has been accused of staging and faking an attack on himself because he was reportedly unhappy about his earnings for Empire.
What do you think about Jussie Smollett being suspended from Empire? Do you respect the EPs decision to let the legal system do its job before any permanent decision is made about Jussie’s role on Empire?
