15: Amy Adams

Oscar nomination(s) – 6

If there’s anybody on this list who would effectively be called the “Oscar Bridesmaid”, it would be the one and only Amy Adams. Nominated for her sixth Oscar this weekend for her supporting performance as Lynne Cheney in Vice, Adams will be entering a familiar phase in her life: making her way to the Oscar ceremony where her acting talents are showcased for the world to see.

Yet, all of her times at the Oscars have never seemed to pay off with a win, as she has not won for any of her five previous performances. It’s a shame too, considering that Adams has positioned herself as a complete chameleon of acting, switching between roles with expert ability. She can play a cheery princess in Enchanted or a cynical art curator in Nocturnal Animals and can do both with the utmost sincerity, owing it all to her hard work and craft.

It has often become a running joke on the internet that she has been snubbed and glossed over so many times, with the most notable snub being her Oscar-worthy performance in Arrival getting shut out of the Oscars for that year. Adams’ talent as an on-screen presence must be rewarded one of these days, right? Maybe Vice will be the one to break the curse.
