Oscars: Amy Adams and the 15 best actresses who have yet to win an Oscar

14: Scarlett Johansson
Oscar nomination(s) – 0
Scarlett Johansson’s name and reputation tend to be associated with carrying blockbuster and big-budget movies. The actress has embraced this status and many of her recent film roles, such as Black Widow in the MCU, Lucy, or Ghost in the Shell. Johansson is not only known for her action-heavy roles, as she has proven herself as a fantastic dramatic actor as well.
All the way back to her work in The Horse Whisperer, Johansson has showcased her talents as a versatile and engaging actress even at a young age, continuing with her performances in films like Lost in Translation and A Love Song for Bobby Long, where Johansson mixed her dramatic chops with her musical talents as well. Johansson gives the vibe of a modern femme fatale, in a sense, with her nuanced intensity winning over AND intimidating audience members over the years, hence why she fits the role of Black Widow so well.
A talented individual such as Johansson should really be a no-brainer when it comes to nominating actresses, but shockingly, she has yet to receive even one Oscar nomination. Her performances in Lost in Translation, A Love Song for Bobby Long, Her, and Under the Skin have won over critics, all thanks to her various great performances, but no Oscar love has materialized from that. Johansson’s work in both action and drama (alongside her various comedic roles) is something that is long overdue to be recognized by the Academy.
