Bob’s Burgers: It’s time for a St. Patrick’s Day episode
With a knack for creating amazing holiday episodes, Bob’s Burgers has yet to make an episode about St. Patrick’s Day and it’s time for that to change.
While holiday episodes are always beloved in a series, Bob’s Burgers took it a new level. They have episodes for all the major holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. It isn’t all about the major holidays as they’ve featured Halloween, Super Bowl Sunday and even, Valentine’s Day. Despite all of those holidays, there is one the show has yet to feature and it’s St. Patrick’s Day.
Celebrated on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrating the death of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It’s known as being an Irish holiday even though the US celebrates it. It’s synonymous with green, good luck, leprechauns and rainbows. Along with that, there are even foods such as corned beef, cabbage and Irish soda bread.

As for how Bob’s Burgers could feature St. Patrick’s Day, the possibilities are endless. Only one major character wears green on the show and that’s Louise. If there’s someone who can take advantage of the holiday, it’s her. Whether it be pretending to be Irish to get out of class, creating fake 4-leaf clovers or dressing Regular Sized Rudy up as a leprechaun, Louise would be the ideal character at the center of St. Patrick’s Day episode.
Now that we’ve got the main character figured out, let’s talk about storylines. I did mention a few ideas above but I’d like to see the family team up. They could try to have a St. Patrick’s Day party at the restaurant complete with an Irish burger of the day, a St. Patrick’s Day song, and lots of drinking mishaps. Mr. Fischoeder could profit off the holiday at Wonder Wharf by creating a St. Patrick’s Day carnival, sure to full of hijinks via the Belcher children or an episode at school with the kids trying to solve a St. Patrick’s Day mystery.

No shortage of storylines for Bob’s Burgers to work with but there’s one that stands above the rest. While I don’t have any ideas, I’d like to see a St. Patrick’s Day episode about Louise and Kuchi Kopi. Kuchi Kopi hasn’t been featured in recent season and it’s time for him to make a comeback. “Flu-ouise” gave us a taste of what he and Louise can do, but there’s no way their adventures end there.
Unlike other holidays, Bob’s Burgers usually airs an episode before St. Patrick’s Day. This year, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday so it’d be perfect. Even though the Belchers aren’t Irish, they can still celebrate the holiday. Even if it’s just to get customers in the restaurant, it would still count. As far as holiday episodes go, St. Patrick’s Day is one of the more underutilized so it’s understandable why the series hasn’t produced one yet.
The show sprinkles some kind of magic on all their holiday episodes and a St. Patrick’s Day episode would be no different. Even though we’re not getting one in Season 9, maybe they’ll feature it in Season 10. With an upcoming movie, there’s no telling what kind of content we’ll be getting. Either way, Bob’s Burgers should work on producing a St. Patrick’s Day episode in the near future.
Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 8:30/7:30c.
