It’s official! Mark Sheppard’s upcoming role is in Doom Patrol.

Mark Sheppard returns to TV after leaving Supernatural and he’s been giving clues as to what he’ll be in for a few weeks. And SPN Hunter’s own Callum Gunn broke down those clues to figure out the project. He believed it would be Doom Patrol and, sure enough, that theory was proved right.

Of course, we couldn’t be certain until we got confirmation. That confirmation came on Mar. 1, when the promo for Episode 4 of the series came. Sure enough, the man we know and love as Crowley popped up in the promo.

Very little is known about his character. During the promo, he mentions that the “Decreator” is coming and the universe will be gone. That sounds ominous.

More from Supernatural

For those who don’t know, Doom Patrol is a show on the DC Universe streaming service. Initially given a backdoor pilot in Titans, the series is focused on a group of the lesser known DC heroes. Starring Brendan Fraser, Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, and Timothy Dalton, it brings humor to the universe and is another series definitely not for kids!

Sheppard hinted at old friends being on the series and one of those is from Supernatural. It’s actually the pilot writer and EP on the series: Jeremy Carver. SPN fans will remember him as the showrunner for Seasons 8 to 11, but he was involved in the show from as early as Season 3. Sheppard speaks highly of Carver’s involvement and even tweeted about it in the middle of February — something we never even picked up on!

He also has a Firefly friend, Alan Tudyk, who plays Mr. Nobody in Doom Patrol. So, yes, “old friends.”

What we don’t know is how long Sheppard is going to be around. He wasn’t in Atlanta (where the series films) for long, so it suggests that he’s not around until the end of the series. The inclusion in the series has been so quiet that it’s not even on IMDb yet! I guess this is something we’ll have to wait and see.
