Greatest Disney movies of all-time – No. 30: A Goofy Movie

Kicking off the list is a film that 90’s kids will remember. While not beloved upon its release, A Goofy Movie has gained somewhat of a cult following. Released in 1995, A Goofy Movie is one of Disney’s most underappreciated films and doesn’t get enough love. Full of incredible music, a fun plot, and a heartwarming story, this film is a must-see especially if you’re a fan of Goofy.

Since this movie isn’t as beloved as the other, let’s talk about what happens. The film follows Goofy and his son, Max on a road trip together to bond. For Max, it feels like a death sentence as he wanted to finally make Roxanne his girlfriend. For Goofy, it’s a chance to bond with his son and for the two to become closer.

For younger viewers, this is a great one as it has bright colors, hijinks only Goofy can provide and catchy songs. For older viewers, it’s a complex story about family, finding yourself and having fun. What will attract all viewers is their music as A Goofy Movie has arguably one of the best soundtracks. With songs like “On The Open Road” and “Eye To Eye,” you’ll be humming to them in no time.

What makes this one of Disney’s best was their ability to craft such an intriguing tale about Goofy and his son, Max. At best, Goofy is one of Mickey’s best friends but hasn’t ever gotten to be in the spotlight. A Goofy Movie does that but also makes Goofy feel more real. He’s just a father, trying to connect with his son and it breaks your heart to watch how Max acts before he realizes how great his dad truly is.
