It was a mixed night for ABC on Mar. 6. Meanwhile, other networks got some boosts with One Chicago airing reruns. Here’s a look at the Wednesday TV ratings.

ABC saw mixed results in the Wednesday TV ratings. While American Idol was down, Whiskey Cavalier did get a boost for its second episode. With One Chicago airing reruns, it certainly had a knock-on effect for other shows. Here’s a look at the Mar. 6 ratings.

American Idol saw a 20% decrease in the demo ratings, tying with CBS’ Survivor: Edge of Extinction for first place in the timeslot and the night. The total audience also saw a decrease, albeit smaller, of 7%. Despite pulling in the highest total audience of the night with 7.80 million eyeballs, Survivor was close behind with 7.26 million and a 2% increase.

Riverdale jumped up 12% too in the ratings, pulling in 0.96 million people. The demo was down by 3% but this is nothing to worry about. Not only has the show been renewed for another year, but it remains in third place in the demo across the network. It’s also in fifth in terms of overall views, behind the likes of SupergirlArrowSupernatural, and The Flash.

FOX had the worst night with its 24 Hours to Hell and Back. The Gordon Ramsay-hosted series saw a 25% decrease in both metrics. However, the series average is still higher than its first season, suggesting that this show may get a third season. Ramsay is loved by FOX so even if this show was canceled, another one would be created!

The second hour saw good results for CBS’ The World’s Best, which finally saw an uptick of 33% in the demo and 14% in the total audience (although it was down in its second-hour slot). However, the figures may not be enough to save the series and may be linked to the fact that it’s coming up to the finale. 24 Hours to Hell and Back remained steady for its second-hour slot, continuing its higher average compared to last season.

All American saw a small boost to its demo, increasing by 5%. Unfortunately, the total audience dropped by 4%. This is a show that The CW wants to see how its Netflix inclusion does for the ratings and the network won’t release the CW app viewer ratings, so we’ll need to wait until May to see if it’s going to be canceled.

Finally, the 10 p.m. slot proved successful for the Scott Foley and Lauren Cohan-led comedy action series. Whiskey Cavalier ticked upwards in its second episode by 12% in the demo and 13% in the total audience, seeing the third best results in both metrics throughout the whole night. This is an excellent sign for the freshman series — most shows will lose viewers in the second week. We’ll need a few more weeks to see how steady the metrics hold but things are looking good for the ABC series so far.
