Game of Thrones Season 8 trailer settles Cersei pregnancy debate?

The Game of Thrones Season 8 trailer gave us a lot to discuss and one of those is if it settles the Cersei pregnancy debate.

If you somehow missed it, and I will be stunned if you did, the Game of Thrones Season 8 trailer is here. Unsurprisingly, it is filled with hints at what is to come in the final season of the HBO series and the one we are going to look at today is what is to come regarding Cersei and the “pregnancy.”

A quick refresher for all of you who may have forgotten. Towards the end of Season 7, it was revealed Cersei is once again pregnant. A reveal that got Game of Thrones fans talking almost immediately.

The main debate was if it was true or not. There is the suggestion Cersei has made it all up in order to influence Jamie. There is also the prophecy many Games of Thrones refer to that was shown in Season 5 that states Cersei will only have three children and they would all die before her own death.

She has had three children and they have all died, so fans are convinced she cannot have anymore. So, even it turns out Cersei is pregnant, and it is not a lie, it is suspected the child will not be born due to the prophecy.

There is, of course, ways around the prophecy. And we can debate about this all day, but it doesn’t look like we have to, thanks to the trailer. Because at 1:05 in the official Game of Thrones Season 8 trailer, we Cersei doing something that settles the debate.

Did you spot it?

The hint is the wine. It’s widely known that drinking is not good for an expecting mother and if there is one thing we all know about Cersei is she will do anything to protect her children. So why would she be drinking and risking harm to her unborn child? It seems a very un-Cersei thing to do.

Now it could be that the dangers of drinking while pregnant are not known in the land of Game of Thrones. Correct me I’m wrong but I don’t remember a moment in Game of Thrones where they pointed out that they know the risks of drinking while pregnant.

If this is the case, then it is perfectly understandable why Cersei is sloshing back the wine. It is Cersei after all, famous for the “more wine memes,” and if you don’t know something is bad why would you stop?

However, let’s just assume she does know the risks. Then she wouldn’t be doing it. This is Cersei, it would be out of character for her. Therefore, the logical answer is she has either lost the baby, or there was no baby to begin with, and it was all a ploy. Ultimately, there is going to be no baby in Game of Thrones Season 8 and trailer has subtly revealed this.
