National Treasure 3 movie: According to Bob Iger, we may receive it
By Sefket Nouri
After waiting years and years for a National Treasure 3 to happen, fans may now have hope. Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, says we may get a third installment after all.
I never liked social studies nor did I care about it until I started watching the National Treasure movies. I’m probably not the only one saying that either. Those two installments were incredibly entertaining, while we were watching Ben, Abigail and Riley look for clues to solve puzzles.
It has now been 12 years since we saw National Treasure 2 in theatres. Both movies grossed over a total of $800 million dollars worldwide. Ever since National Treasure 2 left the theatres, fans are “hungry” for more.

These movies are your guilty pleasure. You’re entertained, the characters have their great one-liner jokes, and there’s action.
Anyhow, you guys are reading this article as you want to know the update for the third installment. According to CinemaBlend, Disney’s CEO Bob Iger recently told the shareholders at the Walt Disney Company’s 2019 Annual Meeting that the idea of the third installment hasn’t been shelved:
"They have talked about a number of different possibilities both on the creative side and from a timing perspective and I just don’t have anything to announce, though I did speak with Mr. Bruckheimer not long ago about it and I know his passion for that franchise remains pretty strong. We love those first two films too, but we’re not quite there yet."
I don’t know about you guys, but this is excellent news to me. Let’s not forget, three years ago, star Nicholas Cage revealed to EW that the scripts are very difficult to write. Nicholas continued “because there has to be some credibility in terms of the facts and fact-checking because it was relying on historical events”.
Sure, we have to keep waiting, but I prefer to keep waiting until they get everything right and not rush through it. Then again, can we really say anything about rushing the script when it’s been 12 years? I don’t think so.
This sort of reminds me of Rush Hour 4. Actually, it sounds like both franchises are almost in the same situation. Rush Hour 3 came out 12 years ago, just like National Treasure 2. Now stars Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, along with the studio, want to get Rush Hour 4 in production, but they want to make sure it’s done correctly and not rushed. Although, I don’t think you’re rushing a script after 12 years. But heck, what do I know?
If the studio greenlights National Treasure 3, we need to see all the original actors, Nicholas Cage, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight, and Helen Mirren reprise their roles. Plus, we still need to know what’s on page 47!
