The Village series premiere introduced all the key players in the series. If you’re reeling from all the storyline reveals and connections in the apartment building, here are the five major storylines to focus on in Episode 1.

Like so many pilots, The Village series premiere introduced all the major players in the series. We already knew that we’d get to meet Staff Sergent Nick Porter, but we also got to meet Sarah and Katie, Ava and Sammy, Ron and Patricia, and so many more.

More from NBC

Trying to work your way through the initial storylines can be confusing. With teenage pregnancies, grieving friends, PTSD, the arrival of three-legged best friends, and more, you’ll likely want to know what you need to focus on the most. Here are the five major storylines you’ll want to focus on in the series.

Nick Porter, his best friend, and PTSD

As you would expect from the promo for The Village, Nick Porter was the way into the series. He offered the introduction to the apartment building and many of the main characters. He’s also the connection to some of the backstory for others.

Nick’s story is one of war, loss, and recovery. While he tells his story to Ron about how he lost his leg, there’s clearly more to it than him. However, he gained a bond with his service dog, who also lost a leg and is now decommissioned and is living with Nick in the apartment. Seeing their reunion was beautiful and certainly a tear-jerker.

We got one look of his PTSD. When a bulb blew, he immediately panicked. Sure, he got control of himself, but this is clearly going to come up later in the season and it may just affect his relationship with Sarah and Katie.

Speaking of the two of them…
