Star vs the Forces of Evil recap: Highlights from Season 4, Episodes 7 and 8
By Mads Lennon
Star vs the Forces of Evil delivered three new episodes this week, one involving the fated blood moon and the future of #Starco.
This week’s new episodes of Star vs the Forces of Evil included a return visit to Quest Buy, an update on the status of #Kellco, as Marco pays a visit to Kelly at home, and a surprising episode involving the curse of the Blood Moon and the potential fate of #Starco!
I appreciated Janna making a return this week, tagging along for the adventure in two of the three episodes. Is it weird I kind of like the idea of her and Tom? They have an awful lot in common.
Let’s review some of the biggest moments from each new episode.
Out of Business

I’m so happy Star vs the Forces of Evil revisited Quest Buy before the series ends. The original episode was one of my favorites. Why is Quest Buy going out of business? Let’s blame it on Amazon probably.
The main reason for Star, Marco, and Janna’s visit to Quest Buy is so Marco can get sixteen more of his super industrial secure wallets. That’s how many he’ll need to last the rest of his life, he predicts. Since this is a going out of business sale, the place is packed. Janna swiped an employees outfit to sneak them into a back room, a room where anything you imagine will appear! A tiny group of hamsters playing music? Poof, you got it. A horde of evil Marcos named Ocram? Yep, got those too.
QB, the main sloth associate, claims the room will drive you mad and turn your brain to goo, evidenced by the cages full of past patrons who have found it exactly like Star and Marco did. The gang is able to escape without their tiny dancing penguins or baby Marcos on wheels and Marco even manages to get his wallets. The second the store closes, it disintegrates out of existence. I’ll miss you Quest Buy.
Kelly’s World
Marco takes Kelly’s invitation to visit her in her home of Woolandia. She and her dad live inside her mother’s hair, as is typical of Wooletts. Also typical of Wooletts? Fighting. They don’t even have currency in Woolandia, every transaction is made through violence! Movie tickets are two punches, hamburger is a kick, and so on.
Marco and Kelly go on an adventure to return an overdue library book and they wind up having to team up to fight the librarian who wants to shave Kelly’s hair as a punishment for having a late book.
Perhaps the most important takeaway from this episode though, is that Kelly and Marco are beginning to develop real feelings for one another. Both of them understand what it’s like to have residual feelings for someone else, Marco still does for Star and Kelly does for Tad (who is a nester now, as in he lets birds nest in him). They agree to be break-up buddies, people who kiss on occasion and hold hands and generally support one another through the hard times.
Curse of the Blood Moon Ball
An episode designed to upset a lot of the fandom’s shippers, Star and Marco discover that their feelings for each other may actually be a result of a curse bestowed upon them at the Blood Moon Ball. A curse Tom has known about for some time, hence why he’s been supportive about the underlying attraction between Star and Marco. They decide to finally sever the soul bond so they can move forward as best friends without their feelings getting in the way of their new relationships.
I have a feeling Star and Marco will wind up having their feelings return to them, and this time they’ll know they’re real and not due to a curse. It was still a fun episode with some of my favorite moments including Recitor and Marco’s strange new kinship and the entire couch bit before they were able to cross the fated bridge.
What was your favorite episode out of the new bunch? Which moments were your favorite? Do you think #Starco is done for good? Are you a fan of #Kellco? Is Quest Buy really out of business? Let us know all your thoughts below in the comments!
