Shadowhunters Halloween episode to feature show-stopping musical numbers
Shadowhunters reveals the long-awaited Halloween episode will feature a variety of spooky, show-stopping musical numbers (including a warlock rap battle).
Shadowhunters fans have been eagerly awaiting a Halloween episode that was originally slated to air during Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween, but Season 3 Episode 18 will actually air this month (now that it’s the first day of April), and we’ve got special information about what we can expect to see in the unique episode.
The latest synopsis reveals that a new demon character will cast a curse over the Shadow World in New York, creating an alternate universe where characters are unable to speak without singing. Dressed in Halloween costumes taken straight from the mundane Halloween culture, the Institute will come to life as a fully decked-out haunted house that will double as a stage for several musical performances.
5 Shadowhunters halloween musical acts we know of so far:
1) A show-stopping tap number in the Institute
Cue the stage lights, canes and glittery top hats! We already knew a few of the cast members are experienced Broadway dancers and tap dancers, so it didn’t surprise us to learn that the entire group of residential Shadowhunters at the Institute would be coming together for a show-stopping toe-tapping musical number that’s bound to get audiences up on their feet. With choreography straight from A Chorus Line and 42nd Street, we can’t wait to see the Broadway stylings of our favorite Shadowhunters (even Raj!).
2) A sultry performance by Lilith in Edom
Inspired by the musical stylings of Bob Fosse, Lilith will perform a sultry jazz song from her throne room in Edom, accompanied by several other demons and edomi who will serve as her back-up dancers. Think elbow-high gloves, fancy cigarette holders, and lots of hip rolls. Who knows? Maybe Jonathan Morgenstern will even make an appearance.

3) A jive jukebox number at The Hunters Moon
Get ready to jump, jive and wail! The jukebox at The Hunters Moon has also felt the effects of the musical curse, and all of the Shadowhunters and Downworlders alike who head into the bar for a drink will join together with Simon and Maia for a hand-jiving routine filled with classic old time rock n’ roll moves.
4) A Parabatai rock ballad
We don’t know of other solo numbers or duets at this time, but we have heard a rumor that there will be a rock ballad duet between Jace and Alec as they sing passionately about their respective ongoing romance troubles. We know they’re going to bring the house… we mean, Institute down.
5) A warlock rap battle
Surprising no one, Harry Shum Jr. and Javier Muñoz will compete in an epic rap battle of the ages along with several other warlocks in New York. Guaranteed to be a highlight of the musical Shadowhunters halloween episode, Lorenzo and Magnus will go head-to-head to work out their growing tensions as to who should be High Warlock once and for all.
