Are you looking for a new show to get obsessed with? Here’s 3 reasons why the STARZ series, Now Apocalypse should be your latest binge watch.

With the cluttered television landscape we’re currently living in, it can be too easy to miss smaller shows that might slip completely under your radar. Now Apocalypse is a new stoner comedy/sex drama on the premium cable channel, STARZ, and right now, it doesn’t have a big audience.

Personally, I think it’s because people don’t know much about the show. It’s completely unique to anything else in the television climate right now. Here are the main three reasons you should check it out!

3. The cast is gorgeous.

Normally I wouldn’t write a reason such as this one since it feels a little shallow, but in a show like Now Apocalypse that is all about embracing your sexuality, it felt necessary to mention.

From Avan Jogia to Kelli Berglund to Beau Mirchoff, you’d be hard-pressed to find a television show with as beautiful a cast as this one. Not to mention the fact they’re often in a state of undress. The show is borderline soft-core porn.

Teen Wolf fans will want to tune in to see fan-favorite Tyler Posey, who shows up often to romance Avan Jogia’s character, Ulysses. Kelli Berglund plays a struggling actress/cam girl, and Roxane Mesquida is Severine, the polyamorous scientist girlfriend of Beau Mirchoff’s Ford.

I commend all the actors and actresses on Now Apocalypse for their willingness to totally commit to their roles, sex scenes, nudity, and everything in between.

2. It’s refreshingly honest about sexuality.

Speaking of attractive people, my favorite thing about Now Apocalypse is its willingness to totally embrace the idea of positive, open sexuality. There is nothing wrong with people who simply enjoy sex for the sake of it. The show has characters across the wide spectrum of the Kinsey scale, gay, straight, bisexual, and everything in between. Plus one of the characters is a sex worker and she’s portrayed in a positive light with no one shaming her for her chosen career path.

I don’t think I’ve ever watched a show that was as open-minded and at times, straight-up filthy, in the best kind of way. Severine, Mesquida’s character, is even someone who admits she doesn’t believe in monogamy. Whether or not you agree with her isn’t the point, the point is she is allowed the freedom to make and explore that decision within the confines of her relationship with Ford.

And that’s only the tip of the iceberg of what is explored on this show, with nearly every episode tackling a new dimension in the vast and complicated world of human sexuality.

1. There are alien conspiracies!

If all that wasn’t enough to convince you, how about the actual premise of the show? Some kind of dark, twisted, alien conspiracy is lurking around every corner and Ulysses is at the heart of it. The show is four episodes in at the moment and we still don’t know exactly what the impending “apocalypse” will look like, but each episode drops more clues, nightmarish circumstances, and strange happenings for Ulysses to explore.

Most of it seems to stem from his relationship with Gabriel, a guy who has been ghosting him since their magical first night together. Ulysses has been having premonitory dreams about the state of the world and many have lead him to believe aliens may already be among us. I guess you’ll have to watch the show to find out if that’s true or not!
