Watch Shazam!: Now playing in theaters
By Sandy C.
Move over, Superman and Batman! There’s a new hero in town, Shazam! now playing in theaters.
Shazam! follows Billy Batson (portrayed by Asher Angel), a foster kid who keeps running away trying to find his birth mother. He got lost as a child, but his mother never looked for him so Billy has been hopping from foster home to foster home ever since. Just when he’s considering leaving again, The Wizard Shazam summons Billy and gives the boy the power of Shazam.
Hilarity ensues, but so does action and tender moments. Don’t be fooled, though, Shazam! is sneakily one of the darkest movies in the DCEU. And as far as what role Shazam! plays in the universe, there are many hints and teaser throughout the movie all signs pointing to Shazam being the new direction the universe takes — and we’re not complaining!
That’s all we will tease about the movie, which we screened earlier last week. One other thing to know is that there are two credit scenes in this movie. As usual, only the first scene it worth staying for. The second is only for laughs, but not worth sticking around for. At least in my opinion.
It also stars Zachary Levi, Jack Dylan Grazer, Mark Strong, and other. The movie is rated PG-13 (for intense sequences of action, language, and suggestive material). The over all message of the movie is about love and family, as well as courage. However, if you have sensitive children or kids who are easily frightened, this may not be the movie for them as some scenes are the stuff nightmares are made of .
Though the official premiere date for Shazam! is Friday, April 5, early screenings begin the evening of Thursday, April 4. Will you be watching the movie tonight or waiting until the weekend? For ticket and showtime information, check out the movie out online!
