Hey #Momaholics, this week on Mom, Christy is sick so Bonnie finally fulfills her motherly duties and takes care of her daughter.

Christy falls violently ill and ends up having to miss work. On their way to San Fran for a concert, Bonnie makes Adam turn around so she can go home to take care of her daughter, for what might be the first time ever. Reminiscing on the days (and nights) of being drunk messes, Christy and Bonnie have a chance to make the most of an unfortunate situation.

The next morning, Christy is still sick so Bonnie continues to cater to her every need. After hauling up the TV and DVD player to her, Bonnie ends up running to the store to buy her rainbow sherbet and medicine.

At the store, Bonnie meets a young mother in a similar situation. The two help each other pick out medicines and a clear parallel is established implying that no matter how old your child is, a mother’s job is never done.

At the meeting, Jill, Tammy, Wendy, and Marjorie discuss how much easier it to clean up without the Plunketts there. Wondering how the bistro will be without them, the ladies, sans two, head there after weighing their options.

Later that day, Marjorie gives Bonnie a call to hear how Christy is doing. Soon after, Adam gets home and geeks out about his awesome time at the concert. Even though he backstage and met the band, Bonnie insists she isn’t mad she missed out because she finds taking care of Christy so rewarding.

Over a meal at the bistro, Jill, Marjorie, Wendy, and Tammy discus how dry their conversations are without their remaining members. When Wendy goes to the restroom, Jill brings up a point that without Bonnie, Wendy feels free to talk to her heart’s content.

Still sick, Christy resists eating soup because she wants to take a bath. Obviously flustered, Bonnie gives up and insists she nap. Once her mother leaves the room, Christy has the bright idea of napping in her bath. Taking her frustration out on Adam, the two have a hilarious quarrel where Bonnie forced him to eat the soup.

Checking up on Christy, Bonnie discovers she left the tub running and went back to bed. Delusional from her illness, Christy struggles to understand why dumping all the basket of clean clothes on the floor isn’t an effective way to mop up the water. Luckily enough, the ladies arrive to save the day.

Feeling defeated, Bonnie tells Jill and Marjorie how she flipped and yelled at Christy. While Jill tells Bonnie that she needs to take care of herself before she can take care of her daughter, Marjorie reminds her that by staying sober, Bonnie is automatically being as good of a parent as she can.

A few days later at the grocery store, Bonnie runs into the stressed out mother she saw there earlier. Giving her the advice that Jill gave her, Bonnie grabs the woman by the hands and insists that they go get manicures so they can take care of themselves first.

What did you think of this week’s episode of Mom? I thought this might be one of the best episodes of the season. Christy sure was miserable and it was hilarious seeing Bonnie scramble to nurse her back to health. Seeing Jill, Wendy, Tammy, and Marjorie interact without Bonnie or Christy was funny to watch.
