A major party in Palm Springs brings the group together in the midseason episode of Now Apocalypse and it brings about some surprising consequences.

We’ve reached the half-way point of Now Apocalypse’s first season and still no alien encounters! This week the gang is headed to Palm Springs for a crazy party being thrown by Barnabas that Ford was invited to. But does Barnabas have ill intentions for Ford? Let’s recap each character’s journey from the episode.

Severine

By begging naked and preying on Severine’s weakness for beautiful things, Ford is able to convince his girlfriend to accompany him to Palm Springs for Barnabas’s blow-out party.  She’s totally distant the entire weekend, refusing to pay Ford much attention and absorbing herself instead in her work and cellphone.

Not long after arriving at the party she winds up leaving early to go back to LA after getting an important call about work. Ford is disappointed to see her leave. I suspect there will be trouble ahead for their relationship given the direction things seem to be going in.

Ford

Over the moon about the party and Severine going on the trip, Ford is having the time of his life… at first. Everything comes crashing down for him this week though. Poor Ford, he really is a genuinely nice guy. As Carly and Ulysses discuss, he’s the type of person who asks how you’re doing and he actually wants to know! It’s sad to see him get used and tossed around by other people because he doesn’t realize what’s happening.

Things almost take an extremely dark turn this week when Ford turns to alcohol over his sadness of Severine’s early departure. He overdoes it on the booze and winds up in Barnabas’s bed. As we’ve all expected, Barnabas has ulterior motives for becoming friendly with Ford and we witness it this week as he slowly starts to unbutton an unconscious Ford’s shirt. Luckily Ulysses arrives just in time to prevent things from going any further.
