Wednesday TV ratings: Whiskey Cavalier steady, Star down [April 10]
Apr. 10 saw NBC take a night off from new episodes of the One Chicago series. How did that affect other Wednesday TV ratings? Here’s a look.
With One Chicago airing reruns, other networks stood a chance of bringing in higher ratings. Did that happen? For the most part, yes, but there were some slips. Here’s a complete look at the Wednesday TV ratings for Apr. 10.
Usually, we see Chicago Med take over the top spot for at least the total audience in the 10 p.m. slot. With the show airing a rerun, it was CBS’ Survivor that took that top spot in both the demo and total audience for the entire night, while seeing a 2% rise in the audience and a steady demo from the previous week.

- Thursday TV ratings: Grey’s Anatomy up, Walker Independence down
- Wednesday TV ratings: One Chicago mixed, Kung Fu down (November 9)
- Tuesday TV ratings: The Resident and Monarch down (November 8)
- Monday TV ratings: All American down, Quantum Leap up (Nov. 7)
- Weekend live TV ratings: Fire Country and FBI mixed
The Goldberg and Schooled kicked things off well for ABC in the first hour. Schooled saw a 12% increase in the demo and 11% increase in the total audience. I have a feeling that ABC will either choose to keep the spin-off or move it to Freeform to stand a chance considering how much the network would have hoped for this.
While The CW opted for a rerun of the In the Dark premiere, Empire saw the first dip of the night. It fell 8% in the demo and total audience compared to the previous episode. The good news is the demo was on par with The Goldbergs and it remains one of FOX’s best dramas.
That semi-good news continued in the 9 p.m. timeslot. Despite Star falling by 10% in the demo and 7% in the total audience, it remains the third best drama in terms of the demo and fourth best drama in terms of total audience. Even when including scripted comedies, it sits fourth and seventh respectively. I doubt there’s a reason to worry about the fate of Star.
Meanwhile, ABC’s upward ticks continued with Modern Family seeing a 9% upward tick in the demo, making it the best of the timeslot. It also saw a 10% increase in the total audience. Single Parents followed with a steady demo and a 4% rise in the total audience.
With CBS airing a rerun of NCIS and NBC opting for a Chicago Fire rerun, it was left to Jane the Virgin on The CW. The demo and total audience were relatively steady for the final season.
Finishing off the night was a rerun of Chicago PD and new episodes of SEAL Team and Whiskey Cavalier. Both shows remained steady in the demo, pulling in the same 0.6. The total audience is where there were differences.
Whiskey Cavalier remained steady but was the worst of the time slot (and the night, except for CW shows), coming in behind all reruns. This does suggest bad news for the dramedy.
SEAL Team saw a 20% increase in the total audience. The timeslot change has certainly affected it, so hopefully, there are plenty of people recording or watching through CBS All Access afterward. This is a military show that deserves to remain on the air.
