Hallmark has officially renewed When Calls the Heart for Season 7. The questions now surround Lori Loughlin’s character after she was fired by the network.
Fans of When Calls the Heart can rejoice. The show has been renewed ahead of its sixth season premiere in May. However, questions surround what will happen to Lori Loughlin’s character in When Calls the Heart Season 7.
Last month, Loughlin was indicted in the prestigious school bribery scandal and was swiftly fired by Hallmark. That put a question on what would happen to the sixth season, which was supposed to premiere shortly after. Hallmark opted to delay the premiere to remove Loughlin’s character, Abigail Stanton, from all scenes.
When Calls the Heart Season 6 will premiere in May. The premiere will air on May 5 and there will be a special one-off episode on May 6. After that, episodes will continue on a Sunday night.
Now, Hallmark has announced that its renewed the series for a seventh season. What about Loughlin’s character? While Loughlin won’t be part of the series, it’s not clear if Abigail will be. The show could opt to recast the role. Despite five seasons of the same actress and now a season without the character, TVLine reports that the majority of fans would like to see the character recast.

When Calls the Heart may be better to write the character out completely. That’s something Fuller House is reportedly going to do for its fifth and final season.
Writing hasn’t even started on When Calls the Heart Season 7 due to it only just being renewed. There is a chance the showrunners and EPs have been in talks with Hallmark about the best move forward to get the renewal. We will have to wait and see.
