Fosse/Verdon Episode 2 on FX: Watch online
By Reed Gaudens
In Episode 2 of Fosse/Verdon, the series rewinds to Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon’s first meeting and how it changed their lives forever.
Last week, the complicated lives of choreographer and director Bob Fosse and Broadway star Gwen Verdon danced back into pop culture in FX’s new hit miniseries Fosse/Verdon. The premiere episode revealed a portrait of a Hollywood couple tugged in different directions as stardom, creativity, and family life lobbying for their full attention. However, the second entry in the eight-episode series turns back the clock to when Gwen met Bob.
How these two met surely adds the necessary layers and nuance to where we found the state of their relationship in “Life Is a Cabaret.” When they met, Fosse and Verdon were on relatively equal playing field, though the first episode paints a harsher portrait of their dynamic, as Gwen was much more celebrated by the public than Bob. More than anything, the origin story of their relationship, juxtaposed with where it would ultimately lead, will answer “who’s got the pain?”
