Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2 images: Will the episode take place only at Winterfell?
The Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2 images have been released and it’s time to break them down. What do they tell us about the episode? Could one of those takeaways be the location of the entire episode?
You know by now that the Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2 images are out. They were released on Apr. 17 and publications rushed to share them. It’s time to break them down, though.
At a glance, they look like generic images. However, there is more to them. One thing I noted is that none of the images come from King’s Landing or from Tormund, Beric, and others around the Last Heath. Is this a hint that the entire episode is going to take place in Winterfell?

That certainly makes sense in a way. Jaime Lannister made it to Winterfell at the end of the premiere and immediately came face-to-face with Bran Stark. Bran was waiting for an “old friend” and Jaime was that guy. Now it’s time for his trial.
There are some similarities between the images of Jaime at his trial and Tyrion during his own. While there was more grandeur at King’s Landing, both Lannister brothers are facing off against a council of lords and ladies — and a monarch — to answer for crimes committed. Both times, the Lannister brothers have been on opposite sides, only able to watch as the trials take place.
I don’t think this trial is going to be dragged out as much as Tyrion’s was in Game of Thrones Season 4. After all, we’ve got a major battle coming up. Sansa and the Northern people may have forgotten about it, but Jon and Dany certainly haven’t — and neither has Jaime. He’s returned to Winterfell to fight for the living because the Night King is on his way.

It certainly looks like there are people ready for battle. Lyanna Mormont is dressed in battle gear, although I’m not sure anyone would send a child, even if she is the lady of the house, out to battle. There are also images of Jon with Arya and Samwell discussing what looks to be battle plans. Dany and Jorah Mormont are also around.
And am I the only one who wants to see some sort of scene between Jorah and Lyanna Mormont? They are of the same house. There’s plenty for them to talk about, including how Jorah is viewed as a traitor but they’re both forced to fight on the same side if the Northern people would stop thinking about the Iron Throne for just a second!
The talk of battle will need to come up. Jaime’s arrival will also lead to the news that Cersei and the army isn’t coming. Sansa pointed out that Tyrion was stupid for thinking that Cersei would keep her word. She knew that would never happen but now the leaders will need to put together a plan that doesn’t involve the South.

There are photos of things going on just outside of Winterfell’s walls. With the armies now arrived, tents have been put up everywhere. There are photos of Davros with food and Grey Worm and Missandei together.
The three weren’t used too much in the Season 8 premiere. We got to see the lack of welcome, especially for Grey Worm and Missandei, so there’s possibly going to be something that comes off the back of that. Maybe a discussion of how they feel so out of place and unwelcome. Or of how little food there is to go around.

Gilly is also featured in two of the images. She and Baby Sam were spotted at all in the last episode, although they were mentioned. Gilly has always been one to talk of fighting and she’s always made her opinions known. With Sam now dealing with the loss of his father and brother (mostly his brother), she’ll be able to comfort him but also knock some sense into him to focus on what matters right now.
I am intrigued at who Gilly is speaking to in one of the photos. Part of me wonders whether it will be Davros, as Gilly tries to get a message through Davros to Jon because Sam refuses to say anything.

The image that I am the most curious about is Bran at Weirwood. Bran looks to be alone, but is he there for some answers or will he meet with Sansa and Arya at some point. This tends to be where a lot of plotting takes place now between the Stark siblings and it could be the place for Bran to share why he likely thinks Jaime should be kept alive.
The Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2 images are anything but boring. They give us a hint of an episode focused at Winterfell.
