The Supernatural Season 14 finale is here. This is going to be one intense ride and here’s a look at the top takeaways from the promo and synopsis.

We’re finally here. The Supernatural Season 14 finale airs on Thursday, wrapping up a season that started with Apocalypse World Michael possessing Dean. Little did we know that we’d end up at this point in the story.

With the promo and synopsis out for the episode, it’s time to delve into the details. What can we expect after the episode that already left us on the edge? These are the top takeaways I’ve noted from both the promo and synopsis for the Supernatural Season 14 finale.

Before getting into the details, here are the promo and synopsis. There will be spoilers after this point for everything that’s happened up to this point.

"ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE ON A SHOCKING SEASON FINALE – Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) are thrown into an epic battle. Meanwhile, Jack (Alexander Calvert) becomes disenchanted with all the lies, and an old friend from the past shows up. Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb."

Are you ready to delve into the details? Let’s take a look at things.

5. Nobody agrees with Dean right now

More from Supernatural

It was a hard episode to watch. As much as I agreed with Dean to start with, I didn’t agree with the idea of locking Jack away forever. And neither did Castiel.

Now it looks like nobody agrees. Something Sam points out to Dean is that Jack’s burned off soul wasn’t just some accident or because Jack couldn’t control his powers. Jack acted to protect Sam, Dean, Castiel, and the world. Isn’t that worth something?

4. Castiel will find Jack

There’s a quick clip in the promo that shows Castiel and Jack sitting on a bench together. It’s clear that Castiel finds the Nephilim. What isn’t clear is what happens after this.

Later in the promo, Dean is holding a gun at Jack. Castiel is nowhere to see. Does Dean banish Castiel or will Jack do something to the angel he thought was his father?

3. Jack seems to be looking for answers

Jack is at a cemetery during the promo. In the synopsis for the Supernatural Season 14 finale, we find out that Jack is disenchanted with the lies he’s been told. It looks like he’s going to find someone who can tell him the truth.

An “old friend” shows up during the episode, which many have theorized will be God (there’s a moment in the trailer of someone in a red sweater being grabbed and that looks like it could be Rob Benedict). Will Jack finally get some of the answers he’s needed all this time? Is there a way to save his soul?

2. Dean is willing to kill Jack

As Castiel is angry at Dean and Sam for locking Jack away, Dean makes one thing very clear. He was more than happy to kill the Nephilim. It looks like he’s still more than happy to do that. In fact, that’s the only option he sees for the future of the world.

Dean has certainly gone off a cliff. Grief can do crazy things and this is the crazy thing for him right now. What will stop him from pulling the trigger? After all, it doesn’t look like Jack is going to stop him.

1. This could all be a test

This isn’t quite in the promo and synopsis, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while. The title of the Supernatural Season 14 is “Moriah,” which is the place Abraham was to make a sacrifice to God. He was to kill his only son, Isaac.

In the end, Abraham was stopped by God after showing willing. It was all a test of faith. Could this episode be all about a test of faith? If so, whose faith is it all about? We’ll have to wait to find out, I guess.
