Avengers: Endgame took a look at its predicted box office total for the weekend and laughed and laughed. The numbers are in and they are groundbreaking!

What did sources predict Avengers: Endgame aka the most anticipated movie of the year aka the finale of an era would collect on opening weekend? About $600-$900 million. A total that would have been highly respected and record-breaking on its own, but the Original Six Avengers laughed and doubled those numbers.

Instead of naming each record Avengers: Endgame has set, it’s easier and saves time to simply state they’ve broken every single weekend record there is as well as set new ones. Really, don’t even bother, no other film has done this before. Okay, fine, let’s name at least a few!

For starters, Endgame‘s weekend win is the No. 1 debut in domestic, international, and combined (global) box offices. This was a record everyone predicted. With its $350 million domestic weekend total, Endgame is the first to reach that number. Internationally, it gathered $859 million, the first to collect that much so fast. Both numbers make a total of just over $1.2 billion globally. You guessed it, the first to ever reach such a high number so quickly. Just to compare, Avengers: Infinity‘s global weekend total was $640.5 million.

The movie did not premiere Friday, though. Official screenings kicked off as early as Thursday evening, and Endgame is the first film to accumulate $60 million on a Thursday, making it the largest opening ever that day. With this total, Avengers: Endgame beats The Force Awakens, which held that record with $57 million. Close call!

Needless to say, the movie also holds the record for the biggest Friday, Saturday, and Sunday opening. And yes, it will very likely take Monday as well.

Avengers: Endgame already has over $1 billion in its pocket, the first movie to get to that big number so quickly. And this, is what no one saw coming. As previously mentioned, the predicted total did not go over $900 million, some even estimated $600 million. That seems laughable now.

Avengers: Infinity War took 11 days to reach $1 billion, but now some sources are predicting Endgame will take down Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all-time. What do you think?

Once again, Endgame‘s total so far is $1.2 billion worldwide.

Avatar holds the highest-grossing movie of all-time record with $2.7 billion. Endgame needs to more than double its current numbers to beat it. Loyal Marvel fans are known to watch the movies in theaters 2-3 times, and this one is definitely worth watching again.
