Now that Disney has bought FOX, it’s only a matter of time before the X-Men are introduced into the MCU. Here are five female X-Men I’d love to see featured.

Avengers: Endgame has finally premiered (to astounding box office records) after years of anticipation. With the Infinity Saga complete (well, pending Spider-Man: Far from Home which is said to be the official end) fans are already looking towards the future.

Feige & Co. are staying mum on the next slate of Marvel films for now. We won’t know what’s next until sometime after Spider-Man premieres. But there is one other Marvel film looming on the horizon, X-Men: Dark Phoenix. It will be the last of FOX’s X-Men films, aside from The New Mutants which may or may not ever get released.

With all the recent promotion for Dark Phoenix and the rumors surrounding the MCU’s future, I started thinking about other female X-Men I’d love to see in the next phase, especially under the tutelage of Kevin Feige and this new era of a more diverse Marvel.

5. Psylocke (Elizabeth Braddock)

In the comics, Psylocke is an extremely powerful precognitive with powers of telekinesis and telepathy. She became a high-profile assassin after her mind was swapped into the body of a Japanese woman named Kwannon by the super-villain, Spiral. For a time, she was even known as assassin-for-hire, “Lady Mandarin” until she eventually rejected the role and left to join the other X-Men.

Psylocke is an incredibly popular character. She has made appearances in numerous of the X-Men video games and the cartoons. In the live-action films, Psylocke appeared in a minor role in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Her most notable appearance on the big screen came in the 2016 film, X-Men: Apocalypse, where she was, yet again, a villain, portrayed by Olivia Munn. In Apocalypse, Psylocke was one of Apocalypse’s horsemen. Her role was still pretty minor, with only a few lines and no substantial screen time of her own.

Given the popularity of the character, it is surprising the X-Men universe never tried to do more with her. Olivia Munn has stated in several interviews how passionate she is about the role and hopes to one day get a spin-off film. Perhaps that could happen in the next phase of the MCU.
