The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 will be out in June. The trailer dropped earlier this week and now we can break it down to see what to expect.

At long last, we have the trailer for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3. It’s coming later in the year than normal, but that’s certainly nothing to frown about, especially when you see the trailer and break it all down.

And that’s what I’ve done now. I’ve watched the trailer at least five times to pick out some of the intriguing moments – moments that give us a hint of what to expect from The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3.

Before we get into the takeaways, you’ll want to check out The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 trailer if you haven’t already. Here it is:

Are you ready for the rising resistance? Oh wait, there is not resistance. And that brings me to the first takeaway.

9. There are elements of Russia’s communist state

It should be all that surprising that part of Gilead feels like a Russian communist state. After all, much of what we’ve already seen is communism. But the discussion of no resistance, nobody escaping, and everyone being punished for heresy instead of anything else brought thoughts of Russia and the KGB.

There was so murder in Russia. If murder happened, it had to have been someone from the outside and murder would have been covered up. Russia was a dream place and you can’t have a dream place if there’s murder, right?

The comments also remind me of the likes of Nineteen Eighty-Four and Fahrenheit 451. I highly recommend them if you love dystopian futures, which you do if you’re watching The Handmaid’s Tale, right?
