Now Apocalypse: 3 big moments from Season 1, Episode 9

In the penutimate episode of Now Apocalypse, Carley/Jethro and Ford/Severine’s relationships are put to the test. Here are the 3 biggest moments from S1E9.

Only one more episode left of Now Apocalypse’s first season. This week’s episode finally brought some of the show’s key relationships to a head. It also brought Ulysses and Isaac closer together than ever.

Let’s review the 3 biggest moments from Season 1, Episode 9.

3. Ulysses gets a key.

The nature of Isaac and Uly’s relationship has grown intense in a very short period of time. They’ve decided to progress to the next step, being exclusive boyfriends. Isaac even gives Ulysses a house key so he can come over to his place whenever he wants.

What struck me most about this scene was Uly’s emotional reaction to what Isaac was offering. He clearly just wants to be loved by someone and he couldn’t get that from Gabriel. Suddenly there’s Isaac, a guy who is saying all the right things. It feels too good to be true and I think he’s overwhelmed by his happiness. I really love this relationship, I hope it doesn’t all fall apart in the season finale.

2. Severine’s fantasy comes true.

Last week’s episode focused heavily on Severine’s desire to have a threesome with two men and get “spit roasted” (you can google it if you want but beware). She gets that wish granted this week, or so it is implied. We don’t actually see the sex scene in question. By episode’s end, she has engaged with her two male co-workers, Lars and Klaus. Ford is desperately miserable in their relationship. I feel bad for the guy but I also don’t.

He’s known who Severine was since the beginning and I think he’s always been desperate to change her. I wish he would end things so he can finally move on. Perhaps with Cleopatra, the girl he met at a coffee shop that offered to read his scripts. Now that Severine is relocating to Roswell for work indefinitely, it may be time for Ford to realize she’s never going to be able to provide what he wants from a relationship.

1. Jethro finds out about Carly’s side job.

I was wondering when or if Jethro would discover Carly is working as a cam girl. He finds out in the worst way too, by actually going on the website and coming face-to-face with her while she’s on the job. The irony is, only hours before, Carly was discussing what defines cheating with Leif. She runs into him while on her work out routine. In Carly’s mind, camming and sexting don’t constitute cheating.

Clearly, Leif has different boundaries. It’s why their relationship couldn’t work. He doesn’t want to be the “other woman.” So then, if this is true, then isn’t Jethro also cheating by seeking out a cam girl? I guess it depends on each relationship and what the boundaries are. Personally, I don’t think Jethro and Carly are a good match anyways. This might be the opportunity they both need to get out of jail free.
