Supernatural has one ore season left and of all the villains the Winchesters have faced, it seems they saved the best for last.

For 14 seasons of Supernatural, we’ve seen so many Big Bads from Lucifer to Amara and Leviathans to Alistair. Through it all, there was a progression of who the main villain of each season is — some done better than others. But with one season left of the longtime-running show, there is just going to one Big Bad left.

Given everything that has happened at this point, it only makes sense. While Supernatural is currently streaming on Netflix, this post does contain spoilers from the Season 14 finale. If you haven’t watched yet, steer clear.

In the next and final season of Supernatural, it seems the brothers will be fighting God, or in this case, Chuck. He came back in the Season 14 finale in a guise that he would help the Winchesters with their Jack problem. Yet, in the last moment Dean chose family by sparing Jack’s life instead of killing him.

Chuck was not happy about it and was so angry that the Winchesters would defy him despite him pulling the strings along the way to manipulate their lives. Then Sam tried to kill Chuck and that was the line that shouldn’t have been crossed.

Appropriately, Chuck said, “Welcome to the end.”

And it really is, which now we see why Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins informed fans when they did that Season 15 would be the last. Once you fight God, there is nothing left. No other fight, no other story will be as grand as that one, which is why it was perfectly saved for the end of the series.

At times, the Supernatural writers haven’t had one villain throughout a season. Season 14 is a good example of that where it was Michael then Jack and then finally Chuck. They also have a habit of wrapping up storylines too quickly and neatly.

Hopefully, that won’t be the case for next season. The Winchesters deserve an appropriate send off and it looks like they may get it with those they affected along the way coming together to potentially end God’s wrath such as Billy, the Empty, Jack and whoever else will lend a hand to Dean, Sam and Castiel trying to stop the world from being destroyed just one more time.

On the surface, this seems like a good and appropriate way to go out. In Chuck we trust — until we don’t anymore.
