2. Mike murders someone.

For a moment, the episode indicates Mike, who is Martha’s husband, may actually be “one of the good guys”. He makes a few off-color comments but he doesn’t seem as psychotic as the other men affected by the meteorite. At least, not at first. Then Martha and Annie show up at the house in a panic when they’re followed home from the bar by a guy on a motorcycle.

Mike unleashes his inner beast and brutally murders the man, full-on enjoying himself as he does it. Then he goes into a rage when Annie and Martha aren’t overjoyed by what he did. They’re not grateful enough for him.

He attacks Martha for not giving him the reaction he was seeking and the barely make it out alive. A lot of men think they’re being good guys and yet when they don’t get the reception they want, when they don’t get the praise or reward, they turn vicious.

1. The ending reveal about the meteors.

By the end of the episode we learn that the meteors did not make these men act like animals. It was always within them, they just made the choice to act on their violent urges. Cole, Martha’s son, actively chooses not to. There is no such thing as “boys will be boys”, it’s an active choice.

Everyone has a decision to make in regards to whether or not they will treat those around them with respect, it’s a point the episode hammers home multiple times. The ending solidifies the notion that no hormone or chromosome can dictate how you act. Only you can do that.
