FOX: Canceled

The Passage the first May Upfronts cancellation

It wasn’t all that surprising but it is disappointing. Now there’s hope that somewhere like Amazon will save The Passage from cancellation.

However, the show based on the New York Times best seller trilogy isn’t going to see a second season on FOX. And when FOX canceled something, it remains canceled by the network. We do sometimes see FOX shows saved, like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Lucifer.

The Cool Kids the first comedy casualty for FOX May Upfronts

Quickly following the announcement that The Passage was canceled, FOX followed with The Cool Kids. It wasn’t all that surprising that FOX made this decision for the Friday night comedy. It wasn’t the greatest ratings puller, especially for a freshman comedy.

Two unsurprising drama cancellations

There were two dramas that many viewers expected to be canceled. Proven Innocent failed to land a second season, while Lethal Weapon was canceled after three seasons. Scheduling, behind-the-scenes drama, and fan reactions to decisions made last year all factored for the two shows.

The surprising drama cancellation

While there were some shows that weren’t surprise cancellations, there was one. Star was canceled towards the end of May 10, and there were immediate shockwaves. This was one of the highest rated dramas, so fans expected to see it renewed. Can Netflix or Amazon save it please?

FOX: Renewed

The Orville the only renewal of the weekend

Like CBS, there was only one show left to renew for FOX. It was all about The Orville, which was the worry for many. It turned out that FOX decided it needed to keep the Star Trek parody, especially with its proud cult-like following.
