Have you checked out the official trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time In Hollywood? Here are three key takeaways.

One of summer’s most anticipated films is the ninth film from Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. Starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt, Once Upon a Time In Hollywood tells the story of an aging television actor and his stunt double attempting to achieve fame and fortune one last time during the end of Hollywood’s Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles.

This morning, Tarantino released the trailer to Once Upon a Time In Hollywood just hours before its worldwide premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Here are three key takeaways from the trailer.

1. The presence of Charles Manson

Once Upon a Time In Hollywood will be a film with multiple storylines that serve as a tribute to 1969 Hollywood. One of the noteworthy castings was Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate. Tate was famously murdered by the followers of Charles Manson in August 1969.

Before the trailer, little was known about the Manson storyline’s involvement in the film. The only clue was that Dicaprio’s character would be neighbors with Robbie’s Tate.

However, in the official trailer, Brad Pitt’s character is seen meeting Charles Manson (Damon Herriman) and a few of his followers. There’s also a scene towards the end of the trailer that exhibits a group of people, which are presumably Manson’s followers, walking up the road with guns. Although it’s unclear if the film will depict Tate’s murder, the Manson family will have a presence in the film.

2. The star-studded cast lives up to the hype

A lot of the excitement for Once Upon a Time In Hollywood revolves around its star-studded cast. Dicaprio, Pitt, and Robbie are three A-list actors at the top of their game. That trio could be enough to draw huge audiences to the box office. However, the film boasts even more illustrious actors in its cast. Al Pacino, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern, and the late Luke Perry will all have roles in Tarantino’s ninth film.

3. Expect violence

Quentin Tarantino is one of the most creative and innovative minds in Hollywood. His films are known for their nonlinear storylines, ensemble casts, and brutal depictions of violence. If the trailer is any indication of what’s to come, expect violence and lots of it.

In the trailer, Dicaprio’s character is an action star who shoots a lot of people in his movies, which involve ” a lot of killing.” In one role, Dicaprio uses a flame thrower to burn Nazis, which is an homage to a previous Tarantino movie, Inglorious Bastards. Also, with the addition of Charles Manson, fans can expect to see violence from Manson’s followers as they were known for committing heinous crimes such as the murder of Sharon Tate.
