Game of Thrones has always had major moments in episodes. There have been twists and turns along the way of this epic journey. And now it’s come to an end. Here’s a quick lookback at the biggest WTF moments from the series finale.
I’m going to keep this away from the more common moments that everyone is bringing up – like Bran being the one to sit on the throne and be okay with the thousands of deaths in King’s Landing. Instead, here are the moments that struck a cord whether for good or bad reasons.
Drogon knew Jon had done something
Let’s start with that heartbreaking moment for the dragon. After Jon had stabbed Daenerys in the heart – I’d love to know what Jorah would have thought about Dany’s actions and whether he’d have been able to keep her under a little more control – Drogon immediately flew up. He knew that something had happened to his mother.
Poor Drogon tried to “wake” Dany up and it was so emotional to watch. But I’d love to know how he knew. There have been hints of psychic links between the dragons and Dany – after all, Drogon has shown up on other occasions when she’s needed him – but it’s never been explicitly stated that they have that link.
But it wasn’t just about that link. There were two other standout moments within this link. One of those was the destruction of the Iron Throne. Did he know the Iron Throne was, technically, the cause of Dany’s death or was it a case of “if she can’t have it then no-one can?” I guess we’ll never know unless D&D want to share.
The second is how Drogon wouldn’t let anyone else have Dany’s body. He took her someone but where? Was it to Valyria? I guess that’s the expectation. It would be fitting since she would be with all her ancestors.
