Game of Thrones: 5 Problems with Tyrion’s royal decision
Game of Thrones is over, and many are unsatisfied with the finale. There are five good reasons why Tyrion Lannister should not have been a deciding force.
This is not a hit piece about the rushed nature of the final season. It’s also not about the coffee cup, the hand, or the water bottle. Game of Thrones deserves better than that. Indeed, Game of Thrones deserves a better ending. There are at least five good reasons why the very final bow on the present was obviously tied by a father on Christmas Even, instead of with time and patience by a mother weeks in advance. It’s an ugly, inelegant finish that has major problems.
Warning: Spoilers ahead. Don’t read further if you haven’t watched the finale.
Problem #1: Bran’s a horrible choice.
Honestly, Bran the Broken? How about just going with Bran the Boring? Or Bran the “Didn’t do anything while thousands died“? There is virtually nothing inspirational about Bran for all those in attendance.
He can talk about being the Three-Eyed Raven all he wants, nobody cares. Nobody understands. For all his powers he did nothing except serve as bait under the Weirwood tree while the Dothraki nearly went extinct. Afterward, he apparently took a week-long sabbatical to plan a sick clap-back for when Tyrion suggested he serve as the Westerosi FDR.
Conversely, he could have used his power to Paul Revere the people of King’s Landing about the impending apocalypse via dragon. Or, better yet, he could have warged into the beast and stopped it from senselessly roasting a few thousand people alive.
