When does Big Brother 21 start? Air date set by CBS
By Ryan Gamble
Big Brother 21 will air this summer on CBS. A new cast of competitors will enter the house and compete for a $500,000 cash prize.
The Big Brother 21 season will be the 24th installment of the program in the United States. Prior to this one, there have been 20 regular seasons, two celebrity versions, and one online version of the show. The regular seasons typically air in the summer, celebrities in the winter, and Big Brother: Over the Top aired in the fall a few years ago.
When does Big Brother 21 start?
The premiere date for the new season falls on Tuesday, June 25. It’s the first episode of a two-day event, with both nights starting at 8/7c on CBS. It’s a change from the typical Wednesday night premiere, but that just means the show starts one day earlier for the viewers.

Host Julie Chen just posted the photo above on Twitter, sparking some new excitement for when the new season finally gets started. When viewers last saw her on television, she was helping crown Tamar Braxton as the Celebrity Big Brother 2 winner. The celebrity season was met with mixed reviews and now it’s just about time to get back to the regularly scheduled program.
Theme and BB21 cast still to come
CBS hasn’t revealed the new theme yet, nor has the network announced who will be a part of the BB21 cast. That information will likely get revealed in mid-June, allowing people time to digest it all before the premiere date. Until then, there will continue to be a debate on social media about whether or not the producers should try to do a second All-Stars version of the show.
With less than a month until the Big Brother 21 air date arrives, fans are definitely getting restless on social media. This happens every spring, though, as people start getting excited for every piece of new information about the coming season. CBS has no incentive to rush things, meaning it could still be a little longer before all details about the summer 2019 season are revealed.
