2. Max is the informant.

Wow, this was a twist I didn’t see coming! But then, I guess it makes sense considering Max has been up to some shady activity since the season began and yet never seemed to run into many issues with the cops. He is a money launderer after all. His money laundering is what got him caught up with narcotics in the first place.

He got caught and was forced to flip to keep himself out of jail. But Tyson died because Nia thought he was the informant that got her sent to prison. Once Murphy finds out the truth, she feels as if Max is to blame for her best friend’s death.

It may be a misguided way of thinking, but this is a serious shock for Murphy. I can’t blame her for lashing out emotionally.

1. Darnell has been arrested.

Max has to make a critical decision to either be involved in a sting that would get Darnell sent to prison for decades or get sent back to jail himself. As the informant, he is in the narcotics department’s hand and doesn’t have much of a choice. Luckily for Darnell, he has a cop in his corner with his girlfriend, Jules.

To save him from walking into the lion’s den, she arrests him for Tyson’s murder while in the elevator on the way up. It’s a close call for Darnell, but Jules decision will likely land her in hot water. It’s going to be hard for her to pretend she has no affiliation with Darnell at this point.

And we still don’t know for sure if Darnell did strangle Tyson or not but at the moment it appears he is most likely innocent, even Murphy thinks so after talking to him. So if he didn’t kill Tyson, then who did?
