The Enemy Within Season 2 is something many fans want. NBC has now made a decision over the fate of its spy drama and it’s not good news.

All eyes have been on the fate of some of NBC’s freshman midseason shows. The Enemy Within was one of those shows, with the network now finally making a decision for a second season.

While there were many who hoped that The Enemy Within Season 2 would happen, NBC had made a decision that doesn’t fit in with that. TVLine reports that NBC has made the decision to cancel the series, along with fellow midseason freshman shows, The Village and Abby’s.

This decision is certainly disappointing but it’s not all that surprising. Going into the May Upfront presentation, I’d fully expected to hear that the show was going to be canceled. However, NBC shared that it hadn’t made a permanent decision at the time and wanted to see how the final episodes performed. After all, NBC is moving into a 52-week schedule, so there was plenty of room for the show if it performed well.

Sadly, it didn’t. While it got off to an okay start, it dropped in the ratings. This was one of those shows that once you missed an episode, you were going to lose track of the storyline. It makes a good binge but possibly suffers from week-by-week storytelling.

The good news is that The Enemy Within wrapped up its main storyline at the end of the first season. However, it was soon clear that Tal wasn’t the head of the whole plot. There was someone on the inside, something that many of us had suspected for a long time. In fact, we even wondered if Tal was someone on the inside.

We’ll never find out who it was on the inside now, but at least we got some sort of resolution to the story.
