Big Little Lies Season 2, Episode 1 preview: Does Meryl Streep know what they’ve done?

In the Season 2 premiere of Big Little Lies, Meryl Streep joins the cast and tangles with Madeline as the Monterey Five attempt to get back to normal.
They’re back, and the little lies are even bigger. The Emmy Award-winning HBO drama series Big Little Lies returns for Season 2 with Meryl Streep and an ocean full of secrets in tow. Following a knockout first season, the former limited series based on the bestselling novel transcends its source material for seven more episodes with the newly dubbed Monterey Five. They might be trying to put the past behind them, but these five mothers now exist under a microscope.
Picking up in the aftermath of the season-ending death of Celeste’s (Nicole Kidman) husband Perry (Alexander Skarsgård), Big Little Lies explores the dynamics of the group responsible for harboring the secret, as Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) grows concerned with Bonnie’s (Zoë Kravitz) guilty behavior. Meanwhile, Jane (Shailene Woodley) connects with a new coworker, and Celeste’s mother-in-law Mary Louise (Meryl Streep) hits Madeline with some brutal honesty. Does she know the truth?
