The critically acclaimed series Mr. Mercedes has not only been given a third season, but there is now an upcoming premiere date!

Good news Mr. Mercedes fans! A ten episode, third season run has been approved, and will premiere on the AT&T Audience network on September 10th at 10:00 ET/PT.

Stephen King’s amazing series will continue on with the aftermath of Brady Hartsfield still impacting the world of protagonist Bill Hodges. Season three will closely link to “Finders Keepers,” the second book in King’s engrossing series.

Third season summary

Hodges, Holly, and Jerome have a new case after Brady Hartsfield. A local author named John Rothstein is killed, and based on the preview it appears to be a masked gunman behind the murder. In addition, unpublished novels are missing, and are valuable enough to be a motive.

This is not a simple investigation, however, with Stephen King involved. As it turns out, the legacy of Hartsfield may just persist on in his victims. If anything, Brady is resilient. Despite being vegetative a good portion of season two, he managed to create havoc and leave dead bodies in his psychological wake. No matter what happens, one of the most notorious serial killers of all time remains in the general public’s memory.

Great news about season 3

The first two seasons of Mr. Mercedes were amazing, and it appears that cohesion and consistency are being valued. Behind the screen, David E. Kelley returns to adapt the third season, and Jack Bender continues to direct. Shane Elrod and Kate Regan return to serve as the AT&T Audience network executive production.

More importantly, however, there is virtually no change to the cast. Brendan Gleeson returns as Bill Hodges, the curmudgeon protagonist obsessed with Brady “Mr. Mercedes” Hartsfield (if Harry Treadaway returns, it’ll have to be creative considering the end of last season).

Justine Lupe will continue as Bill’s quirky partner, fidgeting and awkwardly working her issues out on a daily basis. Along with Jerome Robinson (Jharrel Jerome), the pair will undoubtedly be spending some time trying to figure out how to exonerate Lou Linklatter (Breeda Wool) from providing Brady with a new cranial orifice.
