5. Max and Cam

I feel bad for Cam (full name: Jenna Cameron). Her relationship with Max blossomed out of a place of ill content on Max’s part. Heartbroken over Liz, he sought solace in his partner’s bed. Initially, sex with no strings attached was good enough for both of them, but Cam developed feelings for Max. Feelings he can’t return because he never got over Liz and doesn’t intend to. Cam was put on a bus at the end of the season.

It’s unfortunate, I like Riley Voelkel as an actress, and she was a fun addition to the cast. Here’s hoping she returns someday. I’ve seen a small, but passionate, group of fans on social media who favor the idea of Kyle and Cam hooking up and I don’t hate the idea! All aboard the #Calenti ship. Plus, I kind of love the idea of Tyler Lockwood getting it on with Klaus Mikaelson’s sister.

4. Max and Liz

Before anyone gets their pitchforks out at me, I don’t dislike Max and Liz! I know they’re the show headliner, and that’s great, they’re just not my absolute favorite pairing. At least, not in season one. Who knows what will happen down the line if Roswell is renewed (hopefully) for many more seasons? Plus, someone has to take the awkward fourth spot on this list.

The main reason I didn’t rank the title duo higher is that I’m still not quite over Max, Isobel, and Michael trying to cover up Rosa’s death. Max lying to her face about it repeatedly while knowing full well how her family suffered due to the consequences didn’t help either. Also, the dude has a bit of “nice guy” syndrome. We get it, Max, you love Liz, but that doesn’t mean she owes you anything.

It remains to be seen what will happen next given the season’s ending left Max dead. I doubt he’ll stay that way for long. The question is, will he be the same when he returns?

3. Liz and Kyle

I’m a sucker for a good best friend-to-lovers relationship. To me, Liz and Kyle have more chemistry than Liz and Max. I was taken with their relationship from the get-go. But they do suffer from the same syndrome as Cam and Max. Liz wasn’t able to be with Kyle 100% because of her feelings for Max.

Kyle was understanding and patient with Liz all season. He was there for her as a support system, confidante, and most importantly, a friend. Sex didn’t come between them and push them apart. Though things did get rocky at times. Kyle looks to be headed down a dark path by the end of season one, I hope he and Liz continue to be there for each other on the road ahead.
