Legacies: 5 characters we’re most likely to see from the Vampire Diaries Universe
By Mads Lennon
Of all the characters from The Vampire Diaries/Originals universe, which ones are the most likely to return in a guest spot in Legacies Season 2?
The CW officially announced the renewal of Legacies earlier this year. Since then, we haven’t learned much new information about what the sophomore season will entail, but fans have begun speculating about what characters may visit from The Vampire Diaries/The Originals universe.
Season 1 brought back characters like Jeremy Gilbert and Matt Donovan. Who can we expect the series to recruit for Season 2?
5. Marcel Gerard
The last we heard of Marcel, Rebekah intended to accept his proposal. If all went as planned, the two are now happily married, and Rebekah is human somewhere in the world.

Marcel wouldn’t have a big reason to return to Mystic Falls unless maybe he knew a student attending the school. It would be an excellent opportunity for him to meet Hope all grown up and maybe talk to her about her parents from someone who knew them both at their best and worst.
4. Caroline Forbes
As the mother of Josie and Lizzie, it would make the most sense for Caroline to reprise her role on the spin-off series. But I wonder if there is a reason she hasn’t shown up yet. Candice King is currently busy in the podcast world and being a mother to her real-life kids. Behind the scenes, Julie Plec, the Legacies showrunner, has discussed trying to get Caroline on the show.
Why hasn’t she yet? Could it be King isn’t interested in returning? She did play Caroline for eight years. If King doesn’t return, the show will have to establish a better reason for her absence. At present, the in-universe reasoning is she is researching how to stop the dreaded Gemini coven curse from claiming the life of one of her daughters.
3. Vincent Griffith
Freya and Keelin asked Vincent to be the father to their child at the end of The Originals. What became of that little witch-werewolf hybrid? It would be cool to see Vincent stop by the Salvatore School with his adopted offspring in tow.
Maybe he could scope out the place to see if it’s suitable for the kid later on. Vincent could make his visit alongside another special character from The Originals…
2. Freya Mikaelson
Hope’s beloved Aunt Freya would be a lovely guest addition to Season 2 of Legacies. She could even take the guidance counselor job Emma vacated at the end of season one!
Riley Voelkel recently starred on The CW’s other series, Roswell, New Mexico. Her character left at the end of the season, most likely because Voelkel will star on the new STARZ series, Hightown. This means her schedule is about to be much busier, but maybe she can squeeze in enough time to do a quick guest spot.
As I mentioned above, Freya could make the trip to Mystic Falls with Vincent. It would be a nice flashback to The Originals to see the two of them working together again, even better if Keelin could tag along too.
1. Kai Parker
As the twin brother of Josie and Lizzie’s biological mother, Jo, Kai would be a recipe for disaster and the perfect ingredient to add crazy drama to the next season of Legacies. He is responsible for Jo’s death on her wedding day to Alaric!
Imagine his reaction of Kai Parker, of all people turned up? Couple that with the fact Kai could be one of the only people out there able to help Josie and Lizzie escape the impending curse of the Gemini coven.
The CW is known for loving Chris Wood. He has appeared on numerous shows on the network. Julie Plec has voiced her opinion on getting Wood on the series and seems intent on making it happen so perhaps it is only a matter of time.
