Chicago Fire Season 8 (and the whole of One Chicago Wednesday) has an official premiere date. Look out for new episodes on NBC in September.

New episodes of Chicago Fire will air in the fall. We already knew that with all One Chicago shows keeping their fall Wednesday night timeslots. Chicago Fire Season 8 officially premieres in September.

NBC was the second network to announce its fall 2019 premiere schedule. All new and returning shows have been given official dates to return, with Chicago Fire Season 8 premiering on Sept. 25, 2019. This is the same date for Chicago Med Season 5 and Chicago PD Season 7.

There are certainly plenty of questions for the future of Firehouse 51 after the standard, cliffhanger ending to Season 7. I mean, the whole of Firehouse 51, including Boden, Brett, and Kidd, were trapped in the mattress factory that was ready to explode.

I’ll admit that I rolled my eyes. This happens every single season now. And every season, nobody actually dies. Not since we lost Lauren German’s Shay. There haven’t been any major, long-lasting consequences for these types of cliffhanger endings and I’m not expecting one now.

We know that Taylor Kinney and Jesse Spencer have inked new deals to return, so Severide and Casey will be back. The showrunners have previously said that there wouldn’t be a show without Boden, so I doubt he’s going. There’s been no word on others leaving, unlike last season, which saw Gabrielle Dawson exit after Monica Raymund decided it was time to leave the show.

So, really, the cliffhanger will likely be anticlimactic when the show returns. I would love to be proven wrong on that.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Just more than three months until the show returns.
